For the composition of measures, the structure is fixed at 4 beats. Repetitions can be avoided: | A | (4 beats on the A chord), | D C | (2 beats on each chord), | G Em _ _ | (the _ symbol repeats the previous chord, 1 beat for the G and 3 for the Em. the Em)
Measure informations can be added. An annotation to identify a part of the piece |(a) A |. Repetition symbols : |: D :|. We can indicate that a measure is empty (no play) by noting X as chord.
